ICSI

Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced fertility procedure used in conjunction with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) to overcome severe male infertility or to increase the chances of fertilization in other cases. Unlike traditional IVF, where sperm and eggs are combined in a dish and fertilization occurs naturally, ICSI involves a more precise method. A single, healthy sperm is carefully selected and directly injected into the cytoplasm of a mature egg using a microneedle. This precise technique ensures that fertilization occurs, even when there are significant male infertility issues, such as low sperm count or poor sperm motility. Once fertilization is successful, the resulting embryos are cultured in the laboratory before being transferred into the woman's uterus during the IVF procedure. ICSI has significantly improved the chances of achieving pregnancy in cases where male factor infertility is a significant concern, making it an invaluable tool in assisted reproductive technology.
